I developed and implemented a politically neutral media strategy for the 2008 Mayor of London and London Assembly elections across the full range of media, including press, broadcast and digital. I managed a number of agencies supporting the PR, field marketing and advertising campaign and project managed a series of events including media briefings and the election counts.

I managed a press team of five and implemented strategic media campaigns around flooding, waste and environmental protection, across national, regional and local media. I was also responsible for managing crisis communications including handling the Buncefield oil explosion.

I was responsible for raising the profile of the Environment Agency and protecting its reputation through media work. I produced media plans, built up close working relationships with the media, drafted press releases and trained spokespeople for media interviews.

After gaining qualifications from the National Council for the Training of Journalists I developed from junior to senior reporter building up a network of community contacts and producing weekly lead stories and features for the South London Guardian series and the Surrey Comet.
