Through events such as wellness challenges, interactive booths, campaigns, and health fairs, I encouraged hard work and determination to aid youth in persevering through their hardships. Each month, baristas promote a campaign to raise awareness for chronic diseases, food insecurity, and other public health movements. My supervisor noted my optimism and generosity, and would personally assign me each shift to the window position, responsible for socializing with hundreds of customers each day while they wait for their drink. I used active listening skills to provide exceptional service and resolution, while encouraging customers to make additional purchases of suggested relevant items.

This emergency response position opened my eyes to the responsibilities and interpersonal skills critical for the healthcare field. The role emphasized strong swimming skills and physical health in order to effectively extricate large individuals from bodies of water while holding your breath. The CSD provided both lake and pool environments which expanded our scope of practice for deep water rescues. Earning this certification established an attraction for navigating high intensity events, while admiring the ability to analyze medical information and create a treatment plan. Expired in 2020.
