I work alongside Marriott developers to identify and pursue new business opportunities for both new build and conversion hotel projects for Marriott's ten full-service brands including Tribute Portfolio, Autograph Collection, The Luxury Collection, Marriott, Westin, Sheraton, Le Meridien, Renaissance, Delta, JW, and Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy. My primary responsibilities include lead generation, preliminary communication with potential new owners/franchisees, site and market evaluation, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to review and evaluate new hotels, development committee preparation, and business process improvement.

I completed a 10-week summer internship with Marriott at the Sheraton Grand Downtown Seattle. I spent five weeks working at the front desk and five weeks assisting in the housekeeping office. I expanded my knowledge of convention hotel operations, especially in the housekeeping department in which I'd had no prior exposure. The housekeeping department is truly the heart of the hotel and requires so much attention to detail. I also completed a project called the "Sheraton Seattle Quick Guide" which I presented to the property's top managers. This document helped speed-up the check-in process during peak hours while still providing guests with an amazing resource to explore Seattle.

I spent three months working at the front desk of the Lodge at Whitefish Lake in preparation to be on the opening team of their new sister property, the Firebrand Hotel. As part of the opening team, I helped prepare the hotel for operation by moving furniture, testing computer systems, and training other front office staff members based on my experience at their sister property. This was an amazing experience to learn more than just the responsibilities of the front desk but also everything that goes into opening a new hotel at the property level.

This was my first job in the hotel industry where I fell in love! I learned everything from checking guests in and out, making reservations, handling customer complaints, providing concierge services, etc. These skills set me up to advance in the hospitality industry. I left this job in order to broaden my horizons and experience a locally owned resort/boutique hotel rather than a corporate chain hotel. This was a part-time job during my sophomore year of high school.
