As an Environmental Planning Analyst, I reviewed and commented on Planning Act applications. In addition, I reviewed applications for Ontario Regulation 162/06 permits, conducted site visits, provided consultation and responded to general inquiries. My position required a working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and policies including the Conservation Authorities Act, Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement, Greenbelt Plan, Niagara Escarpment Plan and municipal official plans.

As a volunteer in the Planning Department, I developed skills in my career field by assisting with the review of Ontario Regulation 160/06 Permit applications and Planning Act applications, including Site Plan, Minor Variance, Consent and Niagara Escarpment Development applications.

As a Master's student, I was employed as a Teacher's Assistant for Field Ecology, Introduction to Environmental Studies, and Ecology-Based Policy-Making. Some of my general responsibilities included developing and grading exams and assignments, and providing guidance to students. In addition, while leading field trips I ensured students followed procedures safely and accurately (e.g. tree planting, stream sampling), and I educated students on environmental topics (e.g. ecological succession, tree identification, garden naturalization, impacts of development on water quality).

Upon receiving NSERC USRA funding, I was hired to assist a PhD candidate with research on phosphorus levels in the Grand River. As a Lab Assistant, I also analysed phosphorus levels in Lake Erie samples from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. Some of my responsibilities included collecting river water samples along the Grand River and performing timed analysis in the lab using a spectrophotometer. My work involved testing the effectiveness of lab procedures and implementing necessary modifications.

While enrolled in university, I assisted with physical inventory preparation during three consecutive summer breaks. As a summer student I organized inventory within computer systems and on the shop floor, and I assisted with receiving and arranging shipments. I also aided in the reconfiguration of stock locations and data during a business-wide shift in computer management systems.
