I am a second year EastBIO PhD student studying developmental neurobiology. My PhD project aims to investigate the non-myelinating roles of oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) in governing neuronal circuit connectivity. Specifically I am developing and using genetic tools to live image endogenous synapses to confirm the presence of axon:OPC synapses and interrogate their function.I am passionate about science communication; presenting my work frequently to the Edinburgh Neuroscience community and taking part in a variety of public engagement events.

To do this, I have been developing CRISPR/Cas9 mediated knock- ins to label endogenous proteins, and developing tools for cell type specific knock-out of target genes.
