Carrying out a project investigating the role of oligodendrocyte precursor cells in governing circuit connectivity in the zebrafish visual system. To do this, I have been developing CRISPR/Cas9 mediated knock- ins to label endogenous proteins, and developing tools for cell type specific knock-out of target genes.

I worked in the Czopka lab on investigating oligodendrocyte precursor cells and their roles in regulating nervous system function using Zebrafish as a model organism. Worked to develop knock-in strategies using CRISPR/Cas9 to allow for visualisation of endogenous protein expression and dynamics. I am also optimised the RNAScope protocol for whole mount Zebrafish staining. In addition, I have also gained skills in; confocal imaging, single cell embryo microinjections, plasmid cloning and genotyping.

I carried out an independent research project in Dr Maria Teresa Paramio Nieto's laboratory ('In vitro Embryo Production in Small Ruminants'). I looked to improve the competence of goat and sheep oocytes through optimising the media used in the biphasic in vitro maturation protocol. During this experience I gained skills in; in vitro fertilisation (IVF), oocyte collection and maturation, semen selection and embryo culture.

Worked on project 'Characterising Early Cerebellum Development in Xenopus laevis embryos'. Further expanded knowledge and experience handling Xenopus embryos including; micro-injection, dissection and in situ hybridisation.Helped demonstrate a practical course to Masters students on experimental techniques in Xenopus laevis at the Pasteur Institut.

Completed data analysis project on profiling WPAs spend with major private hospitals and liaised with healthcare professionals and hospitals in regards to their accounts.

Carried out independent project on 'Characterisation of Trim29 and Igf2 as Targets of Cardiogenic Factor GATA 4 in Xenopus laevis Embryos'. Gained hands-on experience in conducting biomedical research on embryos including micro-manipulation and extensive knowledge of Xenopus laevis embryo culture, fixation and whole mount in-situ hybridisation. Learnt how to efficiently operate laboratory instruments and systems and comply with standard laboratory protocols and health and safety practices. Gained skills in critical evaluation of published literature and collation and analysis of data.

Analysed business operations through data analysis, document analysis, interviews and workflow analysis to identify software need. Used Agile software development methodology to communication the business requirements through user stories to software developers by constructing clear models. Carried out functional, integration and performance testing. Liaised with teams to coordinate software training.

Researched information about human diseases to improve the intelligence of an award winning piece of innovative artificial intelligence software. Supported the creation of staff training protocols and carried out live testing of the software on customers.
