(Paul Davies, Director of the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance)* During COVID, led a whole-of-company strategic planning process that resulted in the Australia Council for the Arts committing $60m to fund the first four years of the Orchestra's post-COVID recovery strategy.* Increased individual giving by 42%, expanded the major gifts donor pool, and personally solicited multiple six- and seven-figure gift commitments. The Orchestra record its highest ever surplus of $7.9m in 2020, which was reinvested.* Executed a 12-city European tour and led the international music director search that secured Simone Young AM as Music Director, Sir Donald Runnicles OBE as Principal Guest Conductor, and Vladimir Ashkenazy as Conductor Laureate with the unanimous support of musicians, staff and Board.* Commissioned and funded 50 new orchestral works for the reopening of the Sydney Opera House from a diverse group of Australian composers, including First Nations voices, 50% female composers and 50% creatives aged under 40. * Stewarded the creation and launch of Sydney Symphony On Demand, prioritizing music by living Australian composers as a global point of difference and featuring performances of 120 works (50% Australian), along with full-length symphonic concert films with Simone Young captured during COVID-19 lockdowns.
