My main responsibilities were month end processing, management reporting, capital management, working closely with operations and department leaders, preparation of the Flash report, and upper management reporting. During my time in the Mining Finance Team, I was predominantly responsible for the Mine Maintenance department and the Exploration department. Looking after the Exploration department gave me exposure to tenement reporting. When I moved to the Processing Finance Team, I was responsible for managing the Copper Concentrator, some of the Central Services departments and Intercompany Accounts. I was also responsible for the Accounts Receivable function for all Mount Isa Mine districts, before later training and handing over this role to a team in India. Through building relationships with the business leaders and operations employees, I have successfully improved the financial acumen of non-finance employees by continued training and support. By working closely with the team leaders, effective commentary could be gathered to support the performance metrics presented in the month-end and management reports. This assisted in the understanding of performance and to enable effective decision making by senior management.
