My name is Emma Walker and I am a fourth-year Peace Studies and Political Science major witha strong passion for human rights and social justice. I study at Chapman University in Orange,California. My academic areas of focus often center on gendered communication in conflict resolution settings and the rights of women and children in conflict zones. I am particularly drawn to restorativejustice and its advantages for healing communities impacted by the aftermath of conflict.My professional experience includes interning in Public Affairs for the Orange County DistrictAttorney, where I contributed to community engagement efforts and event coordination. I havealso worked in environmental education with the City of Newport Beach, California, fosteringsustainability awareness as well as environmental advocacy. Currently, I serve as an outreachintern for a company dedicated to providing ABA therapy to children, enhancing access tosupportive services for families of children with disabilities. I have also served as a general education peer advisor through working at Chapman University Academic Advising Office. Additionally, I broadened my global perspective through a study abroad program at theUniversity of Glasgow, Scotland, where I spent five months as a student. I was also able to travelto many countries in Western Europe during this time and enhance my international travel. Myultimate goal is to work in the human rights field, protecting vulnerable communities from massatrocities and advancing global justice initiatives.
