I was raised in a New York environment that allowed me to learn the value of education with a family of working individuals – my parents were from Puerto Rico. Even in high school, I was enrolled in work-study programs to experience employment with Shearson Lehman. This led to relocating to South Florida and I worked in the healthcare industry – specifically, the correctional division within Broward County Jail. I began as the Admin Assistant for the Health Service Administrator. I gained valuable experience in troubleshooting, process engineering, and standard operating procedures. Relationship-building became a significant part of my skillset along with a keen understanding of the importance of establishing and following procedures.Enjoying the field, I worked in the healthcare industry for different firms and eventually worked within a startup that, later, I realized was the beginning of the Cloud. With an opportunity to work as a business analyst, I realized through self-learning, that I had an affinity for the insurance industry. Applying my relationship building and business process engineering skills to my work, I advanced my position into Director of Operations. From there, I became proficient in the area of workforce disability benefits.Change management, business process re-engineering, and innovation are the most stimulating areas of my work. My background makes me very aware that I am in a position to open doors for generations to come. Mentoring women and offering encouragement for them to pursue their goals, particularly minorities or underrepresented individuals, gives me incredible satisfaction. Helping others to see the possibilities that exist is a driving force in me.
