I worked as an International Enrollment Advisor for Kendall College, advising prospective international students on Kendall's degree programs, admissions process, and F-1 visa application in accordance with Department of State regulations. I also served as the primary contact for international agencies in their recruitment efforts and enrollment procedures. I worked closely with student services departments and the office of international affairs to assure quality and timely service to all students, while providing excellent customer service and direction in accordance with both internal policies and state regulations.

I worked as a Program Assistant for Greenheart International's J-1 Visa Summer Work and Travel Program. On the Work and Travel program, university students from other countries come to the United States during their summer break to work for seasonal employers. I was personally responsible for providing in-country support for over 1000 international university students living in the United States during their program. I maintained frequent communication with these students via e-mail and phone assisting them with day-to-day issues such as finding housing, using health insurance, handling culture shock, and validating SEVIS accounts. I advised students in times of need and emergency, and resolved student issues in a timely manner following Department of State procedures and guidelines.

Trujillo, Peru

I worked as an English teacher in the Adult English Program at El Cultural English Institute. I taught classes of all skill levels, from Basic to Advanced, Conversation classes, and Test Preparation classes. This included a wide age range of students as well, from teenagers to adults. I worked with provided materials and curriculum to develop effective lesson plans that combined the necessary language skills with a cultural component. I loved using my position as an "outsider" to encourage cultural exchange through language and sharing our different perspectives on the world.

Trujillo, Peru

Espaanglisch Language School is a small non-profit organization that provides free English classes to several local elementary schools and partner organizations in Trujillo, Peru, as well as inexpensive English classes for local adults who want to practice their English skills with native speakers. As the Volunteer Program Coordinator, I was responsible for recruiting international volunteers who wanted the opportunity to teach English for several weeks or months in Peru. Upon their arrival to Peru, I led volunteers through a cultural orientation, and worked with them to develop English classes for both the elementary and adult classes. During my time at Espaanglisch, I coordinated several fundraising events which brought together our volunteers and students/members of the community to raise money and awareness about the program. One specific project included hosting a beach barbecue and donating all funds to buy new sports equipment for one of our elementary schools.
