As a freelance artist I create and sell art on my website and also have many commissions varying in media depending on my client's goals. I work in both digital and traditional media. My digital work includes creating stylized family portraits, motivational posters for an office space, landscape illustrations, and many other projects using programs like Photoshop and Procreate. For my traditional work I work in many types of media: water mixable oils, acrylic, pastels, and mixed media. I create landscapes, animal portraits, character illustrations, and story-driven work. Two of my paintings were purchased to be part of a local financial firm and my work has been featured at the Figge alongside other Art Academy instructors.

I teach classes for both children and adults at the Figge Art Museum during after school hours. The classes I teach help supplement the program, The Art Academy, by Pat Bereskin. The Figge provides extensive classes to people of all ages. Some students can even earn scholarships to take classes and learn from all the wonderful teachers. The classes I teach are mainly drawing and illustration classes and has a focus on the elements and principles of art. Some of the classes I have taught are: Procreate, Illustration, Character Design, Fashion Design, and Drawing Magical Creatures.

I am an elementary art teacher working for the Pleasant Valley School District in Iowa. I have taught at several different buildings in the PV district such as Cody Elementary, Bridgeview Elementary, Forest Grove Elementary, and at Pleasant Valley Junior High. Most of my career I have taught K-6 art, however one year I taught a section of 8th grade at the Jr. High and this year I teach art for the Transition to Kindergarten students at Bridgeview. Pleasant Valley's elementary art teachers have the opportunity each year to select art for students to showcase at the Figge art museum and I'm proud that I get to choose students for this lovely opportunity and to attend the showcase ceremony. The PV art teachers use the National Art Standards for our curriculum and collaborate together to give our students a meaningful, creative, and compassionate learning experience.

Figge Art Museum

Working at the Figge allowed me to have the opportunity to work with students and extend their art abilities. I worked with a variety of local art educators and helped the classes run more effectively. My responsibilities were: preparing for art classes, gather materials, assist during tours, supervise students, and discuss and help to execute effective learning strategies for student learning. When not assisting in the studio I helped organize the materials cabinet, clean and assist with the upkeep of the museum, and prepare the Wonderful World of Oz exhibition.
