At UK I served a diverse population of medically complex patients across the lifespan including stroke and TBI, cancer, post-surgery, transplant, laryngectomy, cardiac, respiratory, and degenerative diseases. I independently administered both MBSS and FEES and I interpreted each with some supervision. I also independently conducted clinical swallowing evaluations and tests of speech, language, and cognition. Following evaluations, I communicated evaluation results and plans of care with patients, caregivers, and other professionals and educated and counseled patients and caregivers on factors relevant to their situations and plans of care.I was unable to complete this rotation due to COVID-19, so I am actively working to supplement my experience with online simulation hours, continuing education courses and trainings, and by staying up-to-date on current literature and best practices.

At Fayette County Preschool Center I worked with preschool-age students from diverse ethnic, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. My time was evenly split between assessment and treatment; the most common goals I addressed were articulation and phonology, receptive and expressive language, pre-literacy skills, social language, and AAC. I collaborated with teachers, PTs, OTs, and psychologists during both assessments and therapy, and often co-treated with OT and music therapy. I Independently selected and adapted assessments and materials for a variety of students, including English Language Learners and speakers of non-standard English dialects. I also conducted ARC meetings for incoming students whom I had assessed and annual reviews for classroom students.

During summer camp I led group and individual treatment sessions for school-aged clients with mixed diagnoses. I collaborated with physical, occupation, and music therapists to plan and implement treatment sessions and to make sure that each child's movement, positioning, and sensory needs were being met. I also mentored and supervised six first-year graduate students in their first clinical placement.
