As a legal intern at the South Carolina Attorney General's Office, I join the Victim Advocacy team to provide information and support to victims of crime related cases. On a daily basis, I analyze South Carolina Department of Corrections data to maintain accurate contact information in victim case files, enhancing follow-up processes. I engage in ongoing reviews of parole and pardon rosters to identify cases prosecuted by the Office, contributing to comprehensive case tracking. I attend plea hearings across South Carolina, documenting key proceedings and outcomes. Furthermore, I independently organize the filing system for active cases, Post-Conviction Relief appeals, and Post-Conviction Relief decisions, improving case management efficiency. In doing so, I monitor cases for irregularities, promptly notifying supervisors to ensure compliance and accuracy.I interned for the Attorney General's Office in spring 2023. After an incredibly positive experience, I decided to return in fall 2024 to learn more about the legal field and gain additional skills.

After a highly involved application and interview process, I was selected as part of a cohort of seven Moore School students to partner with local state agencies to undertake a long-term research project. In my work, I collaborate with the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce to analyze trends and changes in Unemployment Insurance (UI) claimant demographics over time. I retrieve and condense relevant quantitative data on UI claimant characteristics for analysis using Python statistical software. I engage in ongoing literature review to identify gaps in economic theory and propose research opportunities. Finally, I prepare and present findings to department partners and the Chair of the Moore School Economics Department.
