My name is Emma Kehoe and I am a fourth year student at Quinnipiac University in the 3+1 public relations program with a minor in marketing. I plan to graduate with my Masters degree in Spring 2025.My most relevant experience so far has been working for the Agency at Quinnipiac. It is a student-run PR agency that has given me the tools to work directly with clients and experience some real world scenarios within the walls of my school. I am currently the senior account executive of the Hamden Police Department, and my goal is to revamp their social media and create a video to encourage recruitment among the community of Hamden.I am currently working an internship on campus called "Defend the Den" where I work with 2 other students to help spread the word of the "Bystander Effect" on campus. Our focus is to inform students of the difference it can make when a domino effect happens with students in making careful decisions around bullying, drinking, and any other dangerous situations that can happen in college. I run the social media accounts for this campaign and organize events on campus to draw students in and inform.I am also involved in PRSSA, the Public Relations Student Society of America and am a member of the written communications and social media team. Our chapter is closely connected with Special Olympics CT, in which we create social media posts and press releases to raise awareness for any events they have in the upcoming year. We also take part in "Chuck a Puck", an annual fundraiser for cystic fibrosis research. PRSSA holds a table at our famous Quinnipiac vs. Yale game to receive donations for a plastic puck that donators can throw onto the ice for a prize. All proceeds go to research and seriously ill families in need. This has been a very rewarding experience as well as a real-world experience opportunity for me as an aspiring PR professional.On campus, I am involved in Foundations for Orphans and have recently moved from treasurer to vice president. In this organization we set up fundraisers to help raise money for the orphans of Mozambique, Africa. Some fundraisers we have done in the past include mini golf, bake sales, movie nights, and even small concerts.
