Emma Marion advises space, satellite, and telecommunications companies on regulatory and compliance matters before telecommunications regulators, including the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). She assists satellite companies in obtaining spectrum and imaging licenses, participating in rulemakings, and addressing other regulatory matters, as well as coordinates market entry across multiple jurisdictions for global companies. Emma has also advised satellite companies on emerging developments in space sustainability and safety and on issues relating to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Radio Regulations governing the international use of spectrum.Emma's work spans a number of topics, and has particularly focused on: licensing of novel space and satellite services, international market access, space sustainability and mitigation of orbital debris, communications equipment and infrastructure, and policy issues. Emma also has experience representing telecommunications companies in litigation at both the trial and appellate level, including taking depositions and filing before the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.Emma is actively involved in pro bono with a focus on public international law, and serves on the pro bono team for Public International Law & Policy Group with DLA Piper's New Perimeter global pro bono initiative. She has also filed a brief of amicus curiae to the United States Supreme Court in a capital penalty case.
