Profile bio

About Emma Lustig

As a field technician and detection dog handler at WEST, I contribute to the conservation of wildlife and habitats by conducting surveys, collecting data, and training dogs to detect threatened and endangered species. I have worked on multiple projects at WEST and during my undergrad, such as monitoring bats in Illinois and Missouri, and researching amphibians in Oregon. Prior to that, I was the zebrafish husbandry supervisor at InVivo Biosystems, where I managed the husbandry team and performed molecular biology tasks. I led and assisted in the creation of transgenic zebrafish using CRISPR and Tol2 strategies, and managed all operations of the InVivo Bio zebrafish facility. I have a strong background in biology, with a BS degree from Oregon State University and skills in amphibians, zebrafish, and genetics. I am passionate about applying my knowledge and skills to advance scientific research and conservation efforts, and I thoroughly enjoy facilitating a motivating and collaborative team environment.
