About Emma Marks

As an Associate Professor in Pharmacy Practice and Placements Director for the undergraduate MPharm degree at the University of East Anglia (UEA), I am dedicated to enhancing the educational experiences of future pharmacists. With a strong focus on expanding undergraduate pharmacy experiential learning in line with the new General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards for the initial education and training of pharmacists I strive to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application.I have also recently become committed to promoting neurodiversity, drawing on my own recent diagnosis and experience with ADHD. This personal journey has fueled a dedication to creating an inclusive environment for all students and professionals. My keen interest in the use of AI for personal and professional gain further supports my approach, leveraging technology to enhance both learning and teaching methodologies. With over 15 years of experience in community pharmacy and academia, I have made significant contributions through practice, teaching and mentorship. I am committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in pharmacy practice.Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, DIY projects, and travelling both within the UK and abroad. I also cherish spending time with my family, including my husband, four stepdaughters, grandaughter, two dogs, one cat, and three rabbits. Additionally, I am pursuing my Private Pilot License (PPL) as a student pilot, inspired by my late father's passion for aviation. He took me up flying from just a few months of age when aviation laws were slightly more relaxed. This pursuit supports my zest for lifelong learning, just as it does in my pharmacy career, and adds an exciting dimension to my personal and professional life.
