As a Student Ambassador I perform a number of tasks including guiding visitors around campus on campus tours, along with event set-up for major campus events such as Open Days, information evenings and graduation ceremonies among others. I also visit schools with the Student Recruitment Office to talk to students about DCU from a student’s perspective and also provide support for student recruitment activities.

I use my Multimedia skills and background to work with Transition year students from 4 local schools in the areas of video including editing, camera work and storyboarding.

I was elected the chairperson of the DCU Media Production Society for 2015/16 after spending a year on the committee as deputy events co-ordinator and winning Best Society in a civic, cultural and academic field not only in DCU but overall in Ireland at the BICs. As chairperson of the most active and engaged society on campus that serves over 800 students, I oversee the running of DCUfm and DCUtv by managing a committee of twelve members and two further sub-committees assisting running these two entities.We had an incredibly successful year this year with over 800 active members, over 90 society events, a brand new Alumni initiative and winning Best Society event in DCU and in Ireland for the DCUtv 24 hour Broadcast 2015.

This year I was deputy events co-ordinator for one of DCU's biggest and most active societies, DCUMPS. DCU Media Production Society is the home to both DCUfm and DCUtv. Both strands of broadcasting, the best student media in Ireland. Along with the societies events co-ordinator, Sam Pearson, we were responsible for organising every speaker, workshop, trip and event that the society held this year. We organised and co-ordinated workshops in everything from Premiere Pro to InDesign, had industry professionals into speak to members such as Brian Dobson and Adrian Kennedy, we brought over 100 members on trips in Ireland and abroad over the year and ran DCU's biggest awards ceremony, the DCU Hybrid Student media awards, in the Helix with over 21 categories.The society was recently awarded the Best Society in DCU, in a cultural, academic or social field and will go on to represent DCU in the national society awards (BIC's).

The Society Life Committee (SLC) is run by Office of Student Life (OSL) and is made up of representatives from the student body and OSL and Student Union to make decisions and discuss matters effecting societies in DCU.We each represent a number of societies which we represent at weekly basis meeting to discuss impending issues, approve grant applications, approve new societies and review society awards applications at the end of the year. Having been involved heavily in societies over time in university, I was delighted to be elected onto a committee that I feel serves a vital purpose to the running of an integral part of the student experience at DCU.

The Washington-Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (WIP), is a year long program of personal and professional development that brings university students from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to Washington, DC for summer work placements and leadership training. The program begins and ends with practical service in Northern Ireland and Ireland.

As sponsorship officer my main duties for the society this year was to find monetary sponsorship for the DCU Fashion show 2015, 10 Years of Style. I created a sponsorship package to attract title sponsorship from some of Ireland's biggest companies and we successfully secured title sponsorship from Bank of Ireland for the show. I also created and filled over 800 goodie bags for the audience members of the show which included vouchers and merchandise from Nando's, Popchips, Sally Hansen, Tommy Hilfiger and many more.Aside from my fashion show responsibilities, I was a key committee member to the society over the year and ran the very first 'Enable Ireland Pop-Up Shop' in DCU. I worked with the organisation Enable Ireland to run an event in which they brought over 300 pieces of clothes from their charity shops, to sell to the students of DCU. We managed to raise over €400 in just 3 hours and also allowed members of the society to sell their own clothes, at a €10 donation to Enable Ireland.
