At iD Tech's UMKC location, I taught a different group of children (ages 7-9 or 10-12) each week for six weeks total. I was the instructor for the 'Adventures in Game Design: Minecraft', '3D Game Design: Minecraft & MCEdit', and 'Intro to Java Coding: Modding with Minecraft & Forge'. This has been my favorite job by far as I got to integrate so many of my teaching/education skills to create daily lesson plans, differentiate learning, work with fellow instructors, evaluate learning and prior knowledge, utilize classroom management techniques, and also teach fully built coding and game design courses.

As an assistant within a remedial math course, I was responsible for recording and entering homework and daily quiz grades. After doing this, along with taking attendance, I was responsible with pacing the room, helping students as they work on whiteboard problems the professor has assigned them. This job, along with privately tutoring, was a great review of the remedial maths and helped keep me on my toes.

During my internship with the Student Life department at Baker University, I got fully acquainted with Trello's Kanban design before diving headfirst into creating boards for the department's different sub-organizations like Fraternity and Sorority Life, Intramurals, Student Senate, and more. For each sub-organization I had to meet with the faculty leading the group and grasp an idea of how they wanted their Trello board(s) help make them more efficient, whether that was tracking council members' hours worked, creating a simple system so they could easily make event lists, or capturing each meeting's agenda and completed minutes.

Spearheading the start of Baker's first ever STEM Camp has been an amazing experience. I have built upon a vast amount of skills from collaboration with the local Recreation Commission and Marketing Department on campus, excel documentation of budget expenditures, creating flyers for advertising, interviewing potential volunteers, touring and inquiring with the Baker Wetlands, reaching out to local middle schools, and much more. This experience has taught me that being a leader is not about the title but instead pushing those amongst you to be leaders themselves. Out of all of my experiences, this is by far the most branching one.

As a tutor I was responsible for arranging weekly meetings (once or twice a week) with students ranging from Freshmen in high school to Juniors in college. Some of the coursework I assisted in included Algebra I, Honors Geometry, Algebra II, College Algebra, and Remedial Math for College. Working one-on-one again as a tutor was really helped me revisit teaching and reviewing methods for a vast amount of differing math topics.

As a teacher of early elementary students, I was responsible for creating weekly lesson plans that include daily worksheets, craft projects, and extra materials for special play. While making these lesson plans I included mathematics, reading, writing, sensory play, dramatic play, music, manipulatives, and science at least once a week and related it back to the weekly theme. Aside from gaining skills in planning materials, this job also built upon my classroom management skills in an exponential way, allowing me to communicate and discipline students appropriately and effectively.

As a tutor for Graceland University I was responsible for arranging weekly meetings, reviewing content prior to, facilitating review of curriculum, and being an advocate for educational leadership. I tutored courses including College Algebra, Math Concepts II, and Informal Geometry. Working one-on-one and within small groups really built upon my skills as a facilitator of learning similar to that of a teacher.

As an elected member of the Academic Student Council's High Council I was responsible for leading and collaborating with my assigned House Representatives, faculty, and other students with the Graceland community. With my Reps, we started up and ran several events on our own including ASC Birthday Celebration, Crayons in the Commons, Destress Week, Lighting Up the Library, Personal Branding Through Social Media, and a LinkedIn How-To Presentation. Aside from our own projects, we assisted with other GU events like the Holiday Social, Silent Library, and Scholar's Showcase. This was one of my favorite experiences at Graceland University and vastly improved my collaborative, delegating, leadership, teamwork, organizational, planning, time management, community building, and communication skills.

During the Summers of 2014-2016 I was blessed with the opportunity to participate as a leader in Graceland University's Summer STEM Camp. For a period of three days I would have groups rotating in and out of my classroom, where I was able to teach them Alice my first year, Scratch my second year, and Tynker my last year. Prior to the camp, great thought and creation went into program selection and curriculum build. I had the chance to work on my Powerpoint skills, curriculum building skills, teaching methods, classroom management capabilities, and time management adaptations.

During my position within the Education Department I had the opportunity to meet several heads in the department but I primarily worked with the head secretary of the department. During my time in the department I built upon my database entry skills, filing speed, grading and grade entry methods, communication skills, and much more.

During my position on the Academic Student Council I partook in several different events organized by the ASC President and other House Reps. I started up and ran the Video Committee, where I organized times on certain halls to record their experiences at GU and tips for incoming Freshmen. Taylor Scafe collaborated with me on the project to assist with audio and video editing.

As an assistant to a professor within the CSIT Department, I was involved in curriculum building, grading, peer tutoring, evaluation, textbook selection process, and creating syllabi.

Decatur County, Ia

A group of fellow college students and I interacted with young teens ranging from 13-15 years of age. Every month we would all participate in a large group activity facilitated by the Youth Launch Leaders' campus coordinator and follow up with interpersonal communication with our mentee. The purpose of the organization was to create ties with the children and increase their rate of success in life. I still communicate with my two mentees today.

In collaboration with the local school's TAG Director, I was able to create an after-school learning opportunity for selected TAG students within the math and science fields. Upon deciding on the path of programming through Alice, I was able to start picking out key computer science concepts and build PowerPoints and curriculum guidelines to help my facilitate the experience. With the assistance of four peer college students, I was able to enjoy and learn from my first classroom experience.

While working with a primary school student within Lamoni, IA I built upon my interpersonal skills, ability to mentor youth, curriculum building skills, and educational research capability. We would cover a variety of subjects during our weekly session including applied mathematics, programming with Scratch, engineering for elementary, logical thinking, and research.

Along with other Ackerley Scholars (a Graceland organization), I worked with one of Lamoni's Girl Scouts troops in preparation for a local LEGO Robotics competition. I took aside a section of the young ladies and facilitated research over natural disasters. With their enthusiasm and drive the girls created a product they best saw fit to assist others after a selected disaster and created a commercial and script to market said product. This took us approximately one whole semester and included following the troop to the competition in support.
