Between June 2014 and April 2016, I served as executive editor at AskMen.com, the world’s largest online men’s publication. I managed the in-house content team as well as dozens of international contributors on topics like men’s grooming and style, fitness, and health travel, opinion, and relationships.As the leader for content strategy, I implemented key shifts toward a focus on discovery-oriented stories that put our readers in touch with new products and ideas. At the same time, I put in place the resources necessary to achieve triple the reach of content across all major social media platforms. I worked tirelessly to improve our social media strategy and e-commerce integration. I was able to create roles, including a full-time Editor-at-Large who manages influencer strategy, as well as engaging the services of a consultant to develop and deploy our social strategy in New York City.

In 2007, I was brought on board at AskMen.com as managing editor and took on a day-to-day leadership role at the head of a seven-member editorial team as well as their respective interns. My goal was to set the direction of the site through daily editorial meetings and the coordination of daily publication schedules, while elevating the style and quality of the site’s written content. Working with more than 200 freelance contributors, I rolled out new project management and quality control systems and reached out to my international counterparts to achieve a stronger consensus across the worldwide publication. Internally, I envisioned and established a proprietary dashboard – ‘Meteo’ – that pulls metrics from a diversity of sources, like Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, and Twitter Analytics, while simultaneously tracking our editorial calendar and budget, to give an immediate glimpse of content and editor performance. I’ve also played a lead role in the development and production of six e-books and in the launch of ‘Dispatch’ – a consolidated online news channel featuring content designed to engage readers around the globe and around the clock.

Between 2005 and 2007, I secured financing through multiple publishing grants to acquire, print, and promote six original titles under the MudScout Media banner. After joining AskMen.com full-time, I switched gears to offer custom publishing, editing, and book packaging services to a truly diverse variety of clients, on projects ranging from guidebooks to graphic novels. My focus has been on working with each client to ensure they release beautiful products that go beyond expectations.

I started with this Canadian arts, culture, and entertainment book publisher as an intern, before being promoted into a dual role in overseeing day-to-day freelance and in-house production for 10 to 12 titles per season and in seeking out and bringing on board new and interesting projects and authors. As well, I managed the full range of photo research, copyright, design and typesetting, proofreading, fact checking, collation of edits, shipping, and distribution.

From 2001 to 2003, I served in a freelance capacity as a contributor and senior editor for publications including Under Pressure and Pound Magazine.
