About Emma Hogan
I believe in expanding access to quality education for incarcerated individuals. Currently, I am pursuing this mission through my doctoral research with the Computer Science Education Lab at University of California, San Diego, working towards my Ph.D.I graduated from Siena College in May 2021 as an Honors Fellow with a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Writing and Communications, and was honored to receive the Computer Science Major Field Award from my department. My undergraduate Honors Thesis applied my background in Computer Science to my passion for prison education reform, and was entitled "The Role of Technology in Supporting the Learning Needs of All Levels of Incarcerated Students: A Supplement, not a Replacement."I began working with Post-Prison Education Program during the summer of 2021, working both directly with incarcerated individuals seeking educational opportunities as well as with legislators in charge of related policy.
