As a problem solving and compassionately driven person, I am keen on bringing my skills and strengths to connecting individuals and communities and finding solutions. My experience in the Social Service Worker Diploma Program at Humber college has allowed me to develop knowledge and competencies including being team-oriented and integrating a trauma informed approach. Taking courses including Interpersonal and Group Skills and Crisis Intervention and Trauma has taught me how to productively participate in group collaboration and how to appropriately respond to individuals who are in crisis. I have become very comfortable in engaging with any community in which I have worked in. For example, my experience at Syme Woolner Neighbourhood and Family Centre allowed me to improve my cultural competency as I would embrace every individual that walked through the door for who they are. Furthermore, being a fundraiser on the streets of Toronto I learned how to create meaningful and trusting relationships with pedestrians within short amounts of time. Volunteering at the Georgian Triangle Humane Society taught me how to advocate for those that do not have a voice and are in a vulnerable situation. I am committed to strengthening communities through connecting individuals to community resources. I am also passionate about learning how I can support and meet the needs of people in our community.
