Member of the Firmware team responsible for the development and maintenance of software for a series of sample preparation robotic platforms. The scope of the Firmware spans the complete software suit powering the robots, from robot control to local UI and database integrations. My day-to-day tasks involve the implementation of new features for the existing robots, the software integration of new robotic platforms and modules, as well as handling support cases and debugging.

Core member of the Perception module of the software team of AMZ Racing. The main tasks that I worked on included computer vision programming using Python and C++, camera/LiDAR selection and interfacing and full-pipeline integration using ROS. I was the main responsible for the sensor selection and the algorithmic sensor fusion of our computer vision architecture. Next to my Perception duties, I developed the dashboard software for our car. This included the graphics development, the back-end storage of all the menus, the communication to the other systems of the car via CAN messages and the tuning of performance parameters through interfacing with the steering wheel buttons. All the code for the dashboard was written in C. Additionally I was involved in the software and hardware debugging of our Battery Management System, writing and reviewing embedded code in C. During the season, I also obtained theoretical and practical experience on other modules relative to both the autonomous and manual driving competitions.

Member of the System Memory Management Unit team, working on a statistical Python tool aimed to collect and plot data from the system verification simulations. I managed to integrate the tool in the simulation process, produce an automatically generated internal dashboard with a summary of all the graphs and metrics relevant to each testbench and add logic to produce extra statistics required from the team. My work contributed to the integration of statistical coverage means in the verification routine of the team and made the tool extendable for use in other teams across the company.Skills obtained: Python programming, HTML5 and CSS Programming, Data Analysis techniques, Linux, Git, working with different file formats (YAML, log files etc.), team working and leadership ethics, development of an analytical approach to unknown problems.

Working in the research group of Dr Fumie Costen on Code Optimization based on Parallel Programming and contributing to undergoing research on healthcare applications of signal propagation. My task was to parallelize a program written in Fortran using the OpenMP API, while working on Linux OS. During my time there, I also got involved in the debugging process of another piece of code and I successfully managed to spot the errors and some general bugs affecting similar programs of the research group. This internship was a great experience giving me plenty of knowledge and analytical skills, in addition to the chance of working in a research environment.
