As part of the transaction team under NICO Asset Managers, Emmanuel played an instrumental role in successfully negotiating with Eris Property Group South Africa, leading to the establishment of Eris Properties Mw Limited in Malawi. Furthermore, he was the lead Transaction Manager for the Initial Public Offer of ICON Properties Plc, a US$80 million real estate investment holding company, on the Malawi Stock Exchange in 2019. A distinguished alumnus of Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (formerly the University of Malawi, Polytechnic), Emmanuel holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree with distinction. His professional accolades include being a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Charterholder), Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), and Chartered Accountant (ACA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW UK). Chief Executive OfficerNico Asset Managers Limited Jun 2008 - Sep 201919 Glyn Jones Road, Chibisa House, BlantyreWithin 2008, the Board of NICO Holdings Limited approved the formation of a new subsidiary, NICO Asset Managers Limited to consolidate its investment management activities and to grow the company. The company commenced operations with a team of three and I was appointed as its first Chief Investment Officer. I was involved in installing an investment management software for the company - Hiportfolio/3, drafting and implementing investment management procedures, setting up the internal control environment and recruiting new staff. There were numerous challenges along the way and I am proud to have been part of the company from the start up to end September 2019 and to lead a dedicated team of 30 staff members with more than USD 400 million of assets under management. We successfully grew the money market fund business from nil to over USD20 million in a space of 2 years. We also introduced an investor services business line and managed the ICON Properties, NICO Holdings, NBS Bank and Blantyre Hotels share registers. We managed to gain new funds in excess of USD 40 million, one which included a listed collective investment scheme (NITL – listed on the Malawi Stock Exchange). We introduced specialist investment reports for all our clients, a first for NICO clients and we also introduced monthly Economic reports which became the most sought after technical reports on the economic climate and outlook in Malawi. In addition we published Weekly Market and Investor Guide reports in the Nation. I had direct responsibility for 4 divisions in the company, namely Investments, IT, Finance and Investor services. I also reported to various Investment Committees and Boards of Directors for the various funds/companies under management which were more than 16 in total.I have worked on various corporate finance transactions including mergers&acquisitions, capital raising projects, business advisory, etc including company valuations.

My role involved providing assurance to the NICO Holdings Limited Board of Directors regarding controls mitigating high risk areas. I was responsible for leading in the planning and execution of internal audit, risk and compliance assignments for all NICO Holdings Limited subsidiaries (except NBS Bank) through application of a risk based approach and recommending improvements to internal controls. During these 7 months with NICO Holdings, I improved the reporting structure and content of all internal reports and this reporting framework is being used up until today. I further introduced a Compliance Checklist for all subsidiary companies for CEO’s to confirm compliance on various regulatory requirements. -

Within 3 years, I was promoted to the position of Audit and Assurance Manager. My role involved the preparation of financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards for companies in the financial services, manufacturing and services industry.
