Emmanuel Dijango, is a Professional Engineer registered with the Engineering Council of South Sudan (ECOSS) registration number ECOSS/ENR15/PE/C-200-015, a full member of South Sudan Engineering Society (SSES) and a founding president & member of Civil Engineers – South Sudan, the national professional society for civil engineers.He is currently the managing director and senior consultant at InfraSystems Afrika Limited, a South Sudanese company focussed on delivering Sustainable Infrastructure projects.From March, 2015 until March 2022, Dijango worked for the United States Agency for International Development as Program Management Specialist in charge of Infrastructure, Agriculture & Livelihoods, Public Finance Management, and concurrently as the Mission Environmental Officer (MEO), Climate Integration Lead (CIL) and Mission Engineer. As the MEO, his role involved ensuring environmental compliance and the environmental soundness of USAID funded programs, and as the CIL he ensures that USAID programs consider and account for possible effects of climate change on and by the project. He frequently acted as Economic Growth Office Director for short and extended periods in the absence of the substantive Office Director.Between 2001 and 2015, Mr. Dijango worked as a Senior Engineer, Project Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer and held different full and part time leadership, management and administrative roles with the United Nation World Food Programme (UNWFP), World Relief International and SPLM Secretariat of Physical Infrastructure of the New Sudan.In this career path, he played the main role leading and managing project initiation & conception, Planning and definition, execution and launch, performance, and close-out. Additionally, he supervised technical design and construction and maintenance of roads and several bridges.He is an excellent listener and has a consultative, reflective, and analytical approach to making decisions. He maintains a pragmatic and versatile leadership. These are the hallmarks that have made him an approachable and successful leader even in fragile and hostile environments where he has mostly worked.Outside profession and career, Dijango enjoys music mostly reggae, country, gospel, and rhumba and watching movies. An ardent reader of books, he is particularly fascinated with bridges and what they represent in life because he loves to work with people. Bridges connect people and do so with immense elegance.
