My name is Emmanuel Varela and I am a first-generation graduate from the University of California, Riverside with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. During my college journey, I was privileged to be a student-athlete and an honor student at Rio Hondo Community College. Due to an unfortunate injury, I was not able to continue my soccer career at a four-year college. But that did not stop me from pursuing my dreams and furthering my education. I have learned that life does not require us to be the best, only that we try our best.I am hardworking, I like to give back to the community and try to exceed my own expectations so that I can live my life with a purpose.
