    I worked on both state and national data sets pertaining to key performance indicators in higher education in order to detect the usage of effective planning strategies within institutions. Institutions demonstrating effective planning achieve year on year strategic gains over their peers, and are thus able to outperform them, thereby securing increased funding from federal and state authorities. Using the statistical software R and with the help of MS-Excel, I singled out state and national high-performing institutions, whose planning strategies could be researched and compared to our own methods, and ultimately be used to increase our funding potential. Key performance indicators that were studied and used to carry out clustering, growth analysis, and the determination of market share growth of national institutions included total enrollments, number of degrees awarded, total research expenditures, and total revenue available.
