My passion is creating the APIs and tools that help developers deliver great applications.As a VP of Product Management, I’ve been fortunate enough to lead two of the most important API products in the world: Apiary with API Blueprint (since acquired by Oracle) and SwaggerHub (and the Swagger Open Source toolset), which uses OpenAPI.I have built large API platforms and drove the Governance and Standards infrastructure needed to deliver them consistently and safely.Building APIs has shown me the value of API description formats, tools, and processes, that enable others to develop at scale while minimizing project risk. Thinking about the entire API lifecycle has led me to innovate on runtime tools: API Management, Gateways, Monitoring, and Testing, all guided by API definitions and developer tooling.In the process, I’ve enjoyed working with cutting-edge engineering teams around the world who build and maintain these tools and have acquired expertise in SaaS, subscription business models /metrics, 2-sided marketplaces, and network effects. Along the way, I’ve spoken to thousands of organizations who have shared with me how they build and maintain services, what they need to assure quality, and what it takes for a product to be successfully adopted.For the past 5 years, I’ve been working fully remotely and am adept at leading global teams across time zones (East Coast, Ireland, Czechia, India).As part of the API industry, I love presenting on API Strategy, evangelizing APIs and API Lifecycle tools, and speaking at every major API event throughout the year.If “software is eating the world” then “APIs are eating software”, by being the reusable building blocks for constructing applications.
