As Deputy Director, I oversaw the Policy/Advocacy Team and the Programs Team and managed a staff of six. I led strategy for work related to advocating for better bike infrastructure and policies in cities as well as education and encouragement programs that get more people biking.

As Director of Policy and Advocacy, I led the department's strategy for choosing campaigns, geographies, and establishing positions and policies. I managed two advocacy staff people. I also led campaigns for better bike infrastructure in San Mateo County.

Manage organization's policies, campaigns, and advocacy work. Coordinate "Local Teams" of our members to discuss bike issues and plan local level advocacy. Analyze policies and position requests for organizational adoption and advocacy.Develop guides and toolkits for cities, counties, other agencies, developers, and individuals to make their community more bike-friendly.Provide feedback for city and agencies plans and policies through letters, meetings, and comments at public meetings.Plan programmatic portion of annual Silicon Valley Bike Summit, an educational conference for the area's active transportation leaders: design agenda, coordinate speakers, create event materials.Coordinate Roadway Safety Solutions Team, a diverse coalition of city staff, law enforcement, public health, cycling clubs, and other stakeholders to work on making our streets safer.Make presentations to Boards, Commissions, and other public and private bodies on best practices in biking safety and infrastructure.

-Performed detailed research and field observation of Mumbai’s auto-rickshaw sector evaluating the system in the context of urban sustainable transport and sustainable livelihoods including designing structured surveys for auto-rickshaw drivers and passengers -Wrote comprehensive report, Case Study of the Auto-Rickshaw Industry in Mumbai based on findings which was presented at Urban Mobility India, December 2012 conference

-Drafted legislative reports for accepting grants, for review by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.-Created educational signage for department’s public EcoCenter on recent environmental ordinances including those on plastic bags reduction and the polystyrene ban.-Researched the possibility of a San Francisco carbon tax as part of a departmental response to the Civil Grand Jury Report regarding the city’s environmental efforts.

Reviewed green building strategies of new construction to calculate statistics on the most and least common measures and wrote a comprehensive report summarizing the results and recommending green building policies to the City
