I provide a professional social work service to adults involved in the Criminal Justice System in Aberdeenshire, by undertaking a full range of criminal justice social work duties and working collaboratively with clients who have complex risks and needs to address offending behaviour.

I have joined the Community Learning Disability team for adults. My role will involve providing a comprehensive, intensive community care service to individuals, their families and carers as part of an integrated, multi-disciplinary team and will actively promote their involvement in and understanding of the process. This service includes crisis/ urgent, short term or planned longer term intervention with individuals who have complex health and social care needs.

Supporting people with learning disabilities to live their day-to-day life and get the best out of it. Promoting and encouraging their independence, while developing their life skills. Participating in household tasks, which includes cleaning, cooking, ironing, washing etc. while encouraging the people I support to join in. Helping the people I support to get out and about in the community and doing activities they enjoy.

The DIY Club provides social opportunities for primary aged children with Additional Support Needs/disabilities in Aberdeenshire. We encourage the children to choose what activities we do each session and have their interests and abilities in mind at all times. We try to get out and about as much as possible to places like the swimming pool.

I currently work with three different families on a weekly basis in Melbourne. I look after three babies (1 month, 5 months and 10 months) and five other children who are between 3-4 years old. I have also previously worked as a Nanny in outback Australia and in Brisbane for school aged children up to age 12. It is a busy job but one that I love!

Planning Events – Working closely alongside the Head of Fundraising I have assisted in planning a number of key events ranging from an abseil off the children’s hospital building, a murder mystery dinner, ladies afternoon tea, an annual sponsored beard growing event called ‘Beards for Bairns’ and the ‘Virtual Challenge’ which is our annual pedometer based team challenge. Working with third party events – I have worked in collaboration with other charities and event organisers to plan for charity work at other events, such as running events. Giving presentations– I regularly give tours of the children’s hospital to show our supporters what they are raising funds for. This can range from meeting with school students through to corporate groups.  I visit community groups (rotary clubs, school assemblies etc) and companies to give presentations about our work. Supporting our donors – I use Raisers Edge on a daily basis to monitor who is supporting us and how they are supporting us. I then keep in touch with those individuals on a regular basis before and after their event. ARCHIE in Africa appealAs part of my promotion, my role was to include having management of our new school fundraising appeal, ARCHIE in Africa. This was to fundraise for our twin hospital in Uganda. As part of this role I had responsibility for… Contacting schools to encourage them to sign up to our appeal from two school areas.  Delivering assembly’s at as many registered schools as possible to provide them with information about what we were fundraising for Keeping in regular contact with each school to encourage them with their fundraising  Creating resources for schools to use to aid their fundraising  In the first year of the appeal we raised enough money to build Uganda’s first ever paediatric operating theatre. In our second year we purchased neonatal ventilators with money raised.

My role is to assist the Fundraising Manager with any duties that need performed in order to plan fundraising events for the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital. I also do admin duties such as updating records of fundraisers from the community who choose to fundraise for ARCHIE. I communicate with the fundraisers and I am their link to the charity. I do this by sending them merchandise and wishing them good luck. I also order merchandise that the charity requires and greet anyone who comes into the office with questions. I have also started to give presentations, mainly at school assemblies but also to other community groups about the work of The ARCHIE Foundation. Events I have assisted in running/promoting:The High Tea Hike - A hike up Lochnagar with our supporters featuring a high tea at the top followed by a BBQ at the bottom! This is an annual ARCHIE run event.The Kilt Walk - The ARCHIE Foundation were a charity partner last year for the Kilt Walk at the Deeside and Speyside walks which involved running a pit stop on the day as well as promoting the event to our supportersThe Grand Challenge - . This is an annual ARCHIE run virtual challenge. I was involved in recruiting teams of ten to take part in our virtual challenge who used pedometers to each complete 1000 miles around Scotland. In 2013/13 we had 50 men taking part, in 2013/14 we had an amazing 516 men involved! This was a massive achievement for our team!
