About Emma Sombers

I am a fifth-year student at Northeastern University pursuing a B.S. in Bioengineering with a concentration in systems, synthetic, and computational bioengineering and minors in electrical engineering and behavioral neuroscience. I do research at the Cognitive Systems Lab at Northeastern University, where I am contributing to multiple projects involving brain-computer interfaces. I will be pursuing a MS in Electrical Engineering at Columbia University following my graduation.I have always had a passion for helping others through STEM, and in my academic career that has manifested as an interest in addressing neurodegenerative diseases through solutions in the overlap between engineering technology and neuroscience research. I am interested in brain-computer interfaces and their potential to give people back functionality previously thought impossible to regain.
