On joining VEN in November 2007, Emma's initial role involved maintaining the company’s corporate performance and fulfilling VEN’s reporting requirements to Yorkshire Forward, its funders, as well as identifying areas for progression in the Health and Education Sector. Due to her exceptional performance and commitment, Emma was promoted in September 2009 where she continued to oversee the operational management of VEN as well as utilizing her project management skills.

UKP Training was launched in September 2010 by Emma Tiernan and her business partners Lawrence Kieran and Mark O’Reilly. UKP Training is a specialist training provider offering high quality, industry training such as working at heights, working in confined spaces, water jetting and CCTV/Drainage courses.

Emma undertook a dual role of Project Manager and Transport Manager. Her responsibilities included:• Management of Trust-wide and departmental projects and change initiatives, working in partnership with the Trust’s commercial contractors, including the successful implementation of the ward-based Modern Housekeeper role which won a national award for enhancing patient experience.• Delivery of high quality in-house transport services, including the management of 18 employees, responsibility for the Trust’s transport budget and compilation of transport standard operating procedures and policies including the Trust’s travel plan and transport strategy. • Performance management of outsourced transport services ensuring they are delivered to contractual standards through continual monitoring and supporting contractors.
