I have a passion for making things better, helping people and am a devil for the detail. I have high standards. And I recognise how precious time is. All events have a purpose, my job is to make every second of an experience mean something. Most people tend to favour science or the arts. I am quite unique and have my feet firmly planted in both camps. When people come to me with questions and problems – both sides of my brain jump into action. The more challenging the better, I was born to solve problems. My ideas are imaginative and innovative, as well as practical and achievable. Using events as a force for good is my mantra. Sustainability isn’t a bolt on. Sustainability and people are always at the heart of my designs. My hero? Probably William Morris or one of the other pioneers of the Arts & Crafts movement. I echo their ethos and relate to their challenges. I hope, as a movement, we improve the sustainable and circular economy of events and make this available to the widest possible audience.I do what I do because I care about our world and local environment. I want to make sure that when an event rolls out of town, it leaves behind a better place than when it arrived. Our industry historically hasn’t been good at this. It hasn’t been kind to local communities and the people who live there. We can change that. That’s why we challenged ourselves to become a B Corp and continuously strive to be better. Balancing work and life is an important part of who I am and top of the list is family and friends. I am a gardener, a reader, an artist, a maker, a cyclist, a yogi, an open water swimmer and currently up at 5.15 am twice a week trying to improve my front crawl. In an alternative universe, you might find me as a ‘Stand-up Comedian’. Why? I love observing people (let’s face it who doesn’t) and watching behaviour. People are my passion. Our quirks are funny. Hearing the laughter when my observations resonate with a group gives me a big buzz! I think I’ll stay within this universe though, thanks very much.
