Working with babies and toddlers in this Centre was an empowering experience. Relationships are at the forefront of everything they do. Relationships with the children, the families, with staff members and the wider community weave a protective blanket around the children. As staff we are supported to do our best work and to grow in our practice. Our centre questions traditional practices and how we can grow in our work to provide quality education for the children, for example the establishment of the Outdoor Learning Excursions for the preschoolers.

Traditional Japanese Cuisine for all stages of life to create deep levels of health and happiness. Many people are unaware how the child's health can be greatly improved with a preconception diet. I am also passionate about the first foods to 'run in' the digestive system as you would a new car to aid digestive function and immunity for the life ahead. Macrobiotics is the diet for our current times as it guides us to live in harmony with our planet offering sustainable yet delicious, simple to prepare ways of eating. The Macro brand familiar in Woolworths had its origins in this understanding and emerged from this close community. I believe it will only expand more in the future as people increasingly take responsibility for their own health.

Our family life was busy with 10 children and our work was at the established Shin Sen Dojo. We trained as a family and with the close community of the Dojo, many of whom had trained for over a decade and relied on the teachings as their life practice. Aikido was founded by Morihei Ueshiba who described it as the 'Way of Peace'. He himself didn't teach the Ki aspect of Aikido, it was his student Koichi Tohei who taught Ki (life energy) Development as a separate Do. Ki energy develops the individual and Aikido then teaches the way of being in life with relationships and work. Ki Shiatsu adopted the same principles such as centring, blending and ki extension in a therapeutic healing massage, which was developed in Japan and refined in Australia.
