Emme’s internship at Altus Group gave her opportunities to experience the business world while gaining an understanding of state and local taxes. The internship rotated through multiple departments the main departments being: Real Property Tax, Personal Property Tax, Sales & Use Tax, Unclaimed Property Tax, Marketing, Location and Incentive Strategies. The opportunity to rotate through different departments allowed Emme to gain different perspectives and strategies used in the field.•Working to provide clients with services in a timely manner•Analyzing clients'​ prepared returns and property tax assessments to discover tax savings opportunities and ensure accuracy•Developing an understanding of the client's business and tax issues •Preparing workbooks for the client including current assessments, reductions, income statements, and taxes •Communicating with county appraisers directly to ensure all deadlines are met•Effectively applying state and local tax laws
