I, along with my siblings, were volunteers for Indiana Senator Todd Young's 2016 senate campaign. This was 8 hours a week of door knocking, handing out literature, and talking with constituents. In addition to these tasks, I was also a part of two campaign commercials. Working with the Senator was a pleasure and a great interpersonal experience.One important lesson I learned from this experience was that constituents always come first, and is something I apply today in my work engineering work. This is particularly important because it emphasizes the importance of listening and valuing the opinions of others, especially if they disagree with you. I continue to use this experience every day at work and it benefits me in being a contributing member of any team through the mutual building of trust and respect between team members.
