Emmy O’Neill is an Australian transplant swimmer and triathlete, who uses her public speaking and social media platforms to share her inspiring health journey of adversity, determination and advocacy. Emmy is a passionate advocate for organ donation, and the physical health and wellbeing of organ transplant recipients. As a kidney transplant recipient herself, Emmy works to create pathways for transplant recipients to engage in physical activity and sport as part of their ongoing transplant journey.Using her extensive leadership experience, project management, stakeholder relations, health advocacy, and a background in Creative Industries Emmy is currently the Manager: Sport and Physical Activity with Transplant Australia. Through her role at Transplant Australia, she is responsible for overseeing the Australian Transplant Games, multiclass pathways for athletes and also the Transplant Active program which aims to be inclusive and encourage participation for all transplant recipients. Emmy has volunteered with Transplant Australia, Donate Life during Donate Life Week’s #GreatRegistrationRace and was an ambassador for Kidney Health Australia during the Red Socks Appeal. Her essay ‘on dialysis’ was selected to be part of the e-book Stories from the Heart; Penning the Pandemic; a collection of essays about the pandemic and republished by InQueensland. She also shared her story on Bread and Better Podcast, Women Like You Podcast, SheSaid, Courier Mail, ABC Breakfast + Afternoon Radio, The Nutured Village Podcast, Mummy Republic Podcast & was an International Women’s Day Panelist for Patient Voice Initiative.
