I am currently searching for a summer internship/clinical shadowing opportunity at a hospital/practice near or within the Dallas area to expand my knowledge as a pre-health student. I am hoping to gain experience within a medical environment to familiarize myself with the day-to-day responsibilities of a medical professional, and more specifically, a physician’s assistant. I have volunteered with a college organization, the North Texas Sweethearts. A group of women dedicated to serving the Denton community, UNT athletics and supporting their philanthropy, the National Brain Tumor Society. Closer to my career choice, I am also involved in the UNT Pre-PA Club that helps aspiring PA students to gain insight within the field and becoming more competitive during our PA application process. I have also had the opportunity to volunteer in my college ministry through First Baptist Denton. I have had a hand in helping businesses that create temporary homes for the homeless, participating in food drives and many leadership opportunities. In high school, I was very involved in athletics while maintaining a high GPA and graduating within the Top 10% of my class. I played on the Varsity Soccer team, the Varsity Cross Country team and I was also a student athletic trainer for our athletics. In addition to those years in high school, my years at UNT has taught me the importance of all my responsibilities, even extracurricular.Outside of academics and school related activities in high school, I was also heavily involved in my church, Josephine First Baptist. I was given the opportunity to go on many mission trips and volunteer my time for many families and children. In a few of the more recent mission trips, our youth group lead Vacation Bible School at a South Carolina church. My more recent work experience was during the summer of 2017 at Camp Summit where I worked as a camp counselor and activity director for children and adults with disabilities.Through an internship or shadowing experience, I hope to gain the experience and dedication it takes to be a PA or any medical professional.
