I've been with CCA in various capacities for 8 years, now serving as the Executive Director. Children's Craniofacial Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1989, is the premier organization addressing the medical, financial, emotional, psychosocial, and educational issues related to craniofacial conditions. CCA's mission is empowering and giving hope to individuals and families affected by facial differences. CCA envisions a world where all people are accepted for who they are, not how they look.A craniofacial disorder refers to an abnormality of the face and/or the head. Craniofacial differences can result from abnormal growth patterns of the face or skull, which involves soft tissue and bones. A craniofacial condition may include "disfigurement" (we say differences) brought about by genetic condition, spontaneous gene mutation, or trauma.We offer many programs for children, adults, and families affected by facial differences including financial assistance for medical travel, educational materials and publications, publications for schools and medical professionals, networking events and opportunities, including our flagship "camp," The Annual Family Retreat & Educational Symposium, and continued support throughout our constituents' lives so that they are empowered to make the world a kinder place.Please learn more at www.ccakids.org.
