This project aimed to combine different activities at sea in a smarter, more sustainable and less disruptive manner in the same location. The work involved extensive international industry liaison as well as policy analysis.MARIBE was an 18-month project funded by the European Commission and was led by a consortium of 11 partners. MARIBE’s primary aim was to determine how best to unlock the potential of the offshore economy (Blue Growth) in terms of sustainable growth and jobs.

The Halpin Centre works closely with research centres and departments at the Cork Institute of Technology (NMCI is a constituent college of CIT) and with NMCI partners, the Irish Naval Service.Managed Halpin’s involvement in several international projects contributing to EU policy.-Example projects: REMCAP - Using maritime clusters to increase resource efficiency in several high-growth and emerging markets such as renewable energy; Atlantic Power Cluster – Identifying cross-border complementarities to enable innovation and growth in marine renewable energy; CinMARS – European Space Agency funded initiative to support the development of stronger links between the space and maritime sectors.- Analysed public policy in the marine sector across Europe resulting in detailed findings reports, together with contributing to other project deliverables.- Coordinated project commitments including desk research, collecting inputs from other project partners and production of final reports and interim sub-reports. -Organised project general assembly meeting, involving venue, catering and transportation for delegates. -Represented Halpin at international events as part of project communication and dissemination.
