The International Development Students Society is a team of students dedicated to providing all IDS major and minor students with events, information, seminars and conferences that would further their academic and professional careers. Shield of Athena is an organization that focuses on helping women that have survived domestic violence. As a volunteer, I raised money to build new shelters, presented their organization in competitions for grant money (got to second place!), and I helped with administrative tasks such as sending out direct mail and informational pamphlets, as well as helping out in the shelter by cleaning and organizing. Lastly, Shield of Athena organizes an art auction every year which I assisted by handling the artwork on stage and serving guests.
