Dr. Emrah Zarifoglu works as Head of R&D for Cloud and AI/ML at APG of Applied Materials. Dr. Zarifoglu earned his Ph.D. in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from University of Texas at Austin. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Industrial Engineering from Bilkent University, Turkey. Prior to Applied Materials, Dr. Zarifoglu worked as a Program Director of Data Science at IBM, leading the team developing and maintaining data science and AI tools underlying Multi-Cloud Management Platform of IBM Global Technology Services. Dr. Zarifoglu also worked as a Sr. Manager and Principal Data Scientist at IBM, leading the team developing and maintaining data science tools underlying Watson Commerce platform which hosts various solutions such as Fulfillment Optimization, Merchandising and Insights. Previously, he worked for Gravitant, University of Texas at Austin/ISMI, and AMD. Dr. Zarifoglu has been a frontier in developing SaaS applications, Cloud Transformation efforts and building Optimization and Analytics frameworks for Cloud Computing. He holds patents in Semiconductor Manufacturing, Cloud Analytics and Retail Science. He also has a well established research record in planning and scheduling in semiconductor manufacturing.
