Emre is a PhD candidate and work as a researcher in the PressTech Lab in the field of sustainable chemical engineering. His focus areas are depolymerization of black liquor and lignin by hydrothermal liquefaction, pilot plant operations at supercritical conditions in a range of 0.5s to 30s reaction time, fractionation and upgrading of lignin oil, biomass valorization, bioprocess development. Main goal of his PhD thesis is to convert pulp & paper industry side stream into valuable chemicals (e.g. aromatic monomers, biopolyols, and oligomers) and upgrading these chemicals into biomaterials like lubricants, polyurethanes, and adhesives. He’s passionate about building a sustainable future based on bioeconomy, and enthusiastic about bringing lab scale studies on lignin and biomass into pilot scale and industrial scale.
