I was shocked to learn as an adult that although I am content being alone I am also a people person! I love problem solving and in the business world that often means helping individuals, no matter who they are or what they need. A little communication goes a long way to finding the right solutions, and I invariably take something away from every interaction - a new piece of knowledge, a different perspective, a new connection, or small personal satisfaction.My ideal job is a mix of varied ad hoc demands and underlying projects, and if there is a monthly reconciliation of some sort involved that's perfect, but I'm also capable of doing the same thing day after day and maintaining my enthusiasm.The years I stayed home raising four children with very different personalities helped me build skills in tailoring my approach to the individual, employing clear and concise communication, resolving conflicts, and motivating reluctant players; all useful skills in the workforce! During those years I was tapped to volunteer for a position that entailed heavy use of a database, Excel, and Word to track donations/donor groups and generate mailmerges, and light use of QuickBooks to record deposits of donations. It was great to be doing something worthwhile that also helped me keep my skills fresh.You can find something in common with everyone you meet, but only if you are open to that.
