ESG & Sustainability Consultant with academic background in Economics and research focused on climate policy and sustainable finance.  Professional experience in the real estate sector at Aroundtown allowed for practical application skills in qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess the company’s own progress on material sustainability topics while monitoring best practices.  Primary responsibilities involved analysis and final reviews of data received via reporting lines for publication in sustainability reports as well as targeted deliverables for ESG rating participation.  Progress reports and recommendations were regularly communicated to internal stakeholders ranging from Executive Management and the Board of Directors to individual contributors in the various teams.  Success in the role stems from an ability to identify common threads between ESG reporting an rating frameworks to inform the strategy of the company.  Action items were mapped to topic owners and presented in a way that is relevant and easy-to-digest considering their diverse professional backgrounds.  Rather than focusing on lofty, long-term goals, recommendations focused on actionable items while identifying gaps to be filled either through long-term capacity building plans or through targeted external support. Prior to working at Aroundtown, experience on climate finance and forest and land use policy was gained through an internship at sustainability consultancy Climate Focus Berlin.  Through contributing to the annual Forest Declaration Assessment Report, an understanding of challenges inhibiting investment in sustainable ventures and barriers to policy implementation was gained.  Research and contributions also focused on solutions and innovative partnerships between public and private actors seeking to support ventures and establish financial pipelines. Other topics included sustainability interventions in supply chains.

Coursework for the Master's in International and Development Economics program at HTW Berlin built a combination of technical knowledge and soft skills. Econometrics courses built statistical knowledge while courses such as Environmental and Resource Economics introduced methodologies on nature's valuation and social-ecological systems (SES) analysis. During this time a grant was awarded for field research in Tanzania, where the impacts of forest restoration policy on the agriculture and forestry sectors was examined through interviews with businesses, smallholder farmers, public officials, loan officers, development project staff, and local NGOs.
