I deliver specialized expertise and consulting services to government and nonprofit clients at the local, state, and Federal level that are focused on tackling complex social justice challenges, including improving conditions of confinement, expanding access to reentry housing, and addressing community violence. I advance social impact initiatives through stakeholder engagement, project management, regulatory compliance monitoring, strategic planning, and policy development.

While working within Trust and Safety and Meta, I had the opportunity to leverage my policy and project management experience in the public sector to create solutions that protect users from harm on a global scale. I worked within the suicide and self-injury (including eating disorders) problem space where I worked to ensure that users of the platform who are in recovery or experiencing suicide or self-injury ideation have a space to share their experience, find community, and access resources, while also protecting users on the platform from viewing content that promotes or encourages harmful behaviors. I was responsible for overseeing workforce and capacity planning within the suicide and self-injury problem space to ensure we had adequate resources to detect and enforce against harmful content.

While at the Bureau of Justice Assistance, I managed an annual congressional appropriation of $20M and administered grant funding to support programs and policies that improve conditions of confinement, promote equal justice, and advance second chances for people with criminal justice system involvement. I directed the work of 30+ staff at two national resource centers that deliver training and technical assistance to criminal justice agencies across the country working to improve outcomes for individuals in their care and custody. I managed the Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s) implementation of the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) and PREA regulations across approximately 13,000 confinement facilities nationwide. I created an oversight program that governs the conduct of approximately 400 DOJ-certified PREA auditors responsible for conducting audits of confinement facilities nationwide.

While at ICF International, I conducted social science research and program evaluations in the areas of victimization, prisoner-reentry, juvenile justice, and education for at-risk youth. I served as a Project Manager on state and federally funded studies and was a key team member on several large-scale, multi-year initiatives, evaluations, and reviews. I developed research methodology; wrote technical reports and issue briefs on research and evaluation findings; facilitated collaboration and communication with project partners; oversaw junior staff; coordinated project tasks and deliverables; and presented research findings at national conferences. I also led data collection activities, including telephone interviews, protocol development, large-scale field surveys, and onsite interviews.

Interviewed and advised Public Defender clients on their rights and trial options in the District Court and tracked and monitored court files to ensure clients’ compliance with court orders.

Provided technical assistance support to the National Prison Rape Elimination Commission. Assisted in the drafting of national standards aimed at eliminating prison rape and supported the writing of grant proposals related to conditions of confinement in prisons.

Completed a community-based research fellowship at POWER Inc., a local community development organization. As part of the fellowship, produced an affordable housing database and conducted research on the barriers to affordable housing faced by returning citizens.
