As a Senior Foodservice Manager at University of California in Santa Cruz, I am part of a team responsible for the operational management of the 9/Lewis Dining Hall. I administer a tried and true system of quality food production and service for student, staff, faculty, visitors, and summer conference guests. I am responsible for overseeing the successful execution of all food production, customer service, operations, and human resource management.Creating schedules, tracking employee work hours and recording payroll data, appraising staff performance and providing feedback in the form of reviews and recognition, ensuring compliance with University policies, ensuring the hall maintains all health and safety regulations, maintaining food quality standards, and overseeing daily operations are just some of my daily duties.As the Student Employment Program Coordinator, I have the privilege of managing a program with over 135 students employed with the 9/Lewis Dining Hall. Daily I have the opportunity to train new and current Career and Student employees on how to maximize customer satisfaction and respond appropriately to customer concerns. This Student Employment program is essential in maintaining the elevated and comfortable dining experience that awaits students, staff, and our customers from all over the world. In November 1995, DGS-2 participated in Operation JOINT GUARDIAN to support multi-national peacekeeping forces in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Because of our outstanding performance, completing over 450 successful missions, the 13th was awarded the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency’s National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation for 1996 and 1997.Served on special duty assignment "Tops in Blue" in Europe, Asia, and the Pacific in traveling to over 30 countries and 47 states.
