Worked on a funded project by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR NIHR202107) worth approximately £1M to investigate and develop novel sensors for monitoring human respiration rates (both patients and healthy individuals). The responsibilities include finding new sensor materials and sizes, optimising circuit design to enhance system reliability, and integrating them into a wearable garment. FEA modelling was used to ensure the design met the performance standards. Additionally, the washability limitation of the sensor and electronic circuit was studied. The whole system was validated through lab testing and human trials, resulting in a successfully monitored respiratory rate.

During my PhD, I acquired the following expertise:Antennas/ and RFID sensor tags designing and simulating in CST studio and Ansys simulating software. The simulated sensor structure was manufactured by PCB engraving using a Denford milling machine, by using screen printing, silver particle deposition by using Voltera V-one, and laser printing mechanism.Hand-on experience in PCB engraving, Circuit printing by using screen printing mechanism and silver particles deposition, measuring tag radar cross section (RCS), and antenna response with the help of vector network analyzer (VNA).The piezo-dielectric properties of nanomaterials such as BaTiO3, and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) impact toward tags signatures were used to monitor the temperature and humidity variation (sensors).
