Josh showcased his versatility and teamwork as he provided design, analysis, planning guidance, and project management for a variety of projects including municipal, site and large scale development, and drainage. Josh worked with local governments to secure funding for street and utility reconstructions as well as other municipal needs through the assessment process as well as other state and federal funding sources. In addition, he worked with private and municipal developers and shepherded the projects from start to finish, expertly navigating local, state and federal criteria to maintain project scope, budget, and schedule.Josh also coordinated project correspondence, funding mechanisms, and contract management on behalf of municipalities when disaster occurs by working directly with FEMA, state agencies, local governments, as well as construction contractors. While working to restore damaged facilities, he also has a keen eye for improvements that can be constructed to prevent further disaster and has the expertise to work with FEMA to mitigate flood risk of properties.

Josh assisted project managers with coordination of numerous municipal engineering and private land development projects. In particular, he determined efficient utility, grading, and roadway layouts and compiled associated project schedules, cost estimates, and daily correspondence to ensure the project proceeded according to the client's needs and in accordance with local criteria. Additionally, Josh also performed hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to evaluate existing and proposed drainage concerns for both land development and municipal projects. Specifically, he was a part of a team which identified areas within FEMA delineated floodplains and determined the appropriate course to mitigate against flood risks. Mitigation techniques included sizing wet and dry detention basins and appropriately sizing proposed storm sewer.

As a summer intern, Josh cultivated his passion for civil engineering by gaining valuable field experience performing surveying and construction observation. He quickly displayed his aptitude and leadership ability as he was asked to become a surveying crew chief within a few months of being employed. As his knowledge of civil engineering was cultivated, Josh's responsibilities evolved from topographic data collection and construction staking to construction observation and contract administration. In particular, he administered mass grading, roadway and utility reconstruction, and structural reinforced concrete projects. It was in this role that Josh developed a foundation for construction techniques and project management.
