Project Engineer
Current• Performs engineering services related to the design of various capital improvements and rehabilitation projects for public utilities infrastructure including water distribution, sanitary collection, stormwater, lift stations, water resources, water and wastewater treatment plants, and incidental roadway improvements.• Prepares construction drawings and specifications for the planning, design, rehabilitation, and construction of utilities projects.• Coordinates with representatives from other agencies and City staff to resolve issues related to the design to ensure projects meet the requirements of the City standards and specifications.• Performs research, engineering studies, and calculations related to assigned areas of responsibility.• Performs cost analysis for utilities projects.• Assists engineers with various aspects of complex projects (data collection, condition assessment, etc.).• Develops exhibits for engineering reports and presentations through use of computer graphics software, including slides, maps, charts, and graphs.• Present to community/neighborhood groups regarding proposed or on-going projects.• Responds to inquiries from the public concerning utilities and other engineering-related matters.• Develops, manages, and monitors engineering contracts with outside consultants and contractors.• Review of engineering drawings for City projects and developer’s projects.• Reviews technical specifications, contract documents, and cost estimates.• Reviews contract documents including schedule of bid items.• Evaluates and approves consultant and contractor pay requests.
